Our take

Tackling Behavioral Health Issues Through Telemedicine

Mental health issues are prevalent around the country, with a shortage of providers challenging healthcare organizations to effectively meet the needs of a growing number of patients. Remote care may be the answer. For-profit organizations are entering the field through partnerships with healthcare organizations to provide these services remotely. Could your health system benefit from a partnership with a behavioral health IT company?

As telemedicine regulations loosen up to allow the treatment of patients across state boundaries, and as reimbursement issues ensure that providers can be compensated for their participation in these efforts, it is likely that more of these types of partnerships will emerge. Behavioral health is currently a top area of focus, but opportunities may lie in other areas as well.
